L’importation de chiens et de chats est soumise à autorisation préalable. En effet, la Polynésie française est indemne de rage, de leishmaniose ainsi que de nombreuses maladies transmises par les tiques (notamment la maladie de Lyme) et puces et tient à conserver ce statut sanitaire favorable.

Import of dogs and cats is subjected to obtaining an import permit. As a matter of fact, French Polynesia is free from rabies, leishmaniosis and numerous other diseases transmitted by ticks and flies and intends to maintain this favourable status.

L’état de Hawaï est considéré comme indemne de Rage et de Leishmaniose en regard de la réglementation et les conditions d’entrée des chiens et des chats nés ou ayant résidé plus de 6 mois, et provenant directement de ce territoire, sont ainsi allégées par rapport aux autres territoires des États-Unis.

The state of Hawaii is considered free from Rabies and Leishmaniasis under the regulations and the entry conditions for dogs and cats born or having resided for more than 6 months  there, and coming directly from this territory, are thus lightened compared to other territories of the United States. Les chiens et chats voyagent obligatoirement par fret (soute) en Polynésie française. Des dérogations pour voyage en cabine peuvent être accordées par la Direction de la Biosécurité uniquement dans le cas de chiens d’assistance à personne handicapée ou pour le transport par aéronef privé.

Attention, certaines races de chiens sont considérées comme appartenant à la catégorie 1 selon l’arrêté n°1927 HC du 04/09/2009 (réglementation propre à la Polynésie française) , et sont par conséquent interdites d’importation en Polynésie française.

Veuillez noter également que certaines races de chien “à nez retroussé” peuvent se voir refuser le transport en soute par les compagnies aériennes, et il est vivement conseillé de voir les conditions de ces dernières avant toute importation.

Dogs and cats must travel by freight (hold) in French Polynesia. Exemptions for cabin travel may be granted by the Biosecurity Department only in the case of assistance dogs for disabled people or for transport by private aircraft. Please note, certain dog breeds are considered to belong to category 1 according to Decree No. 1927 HC of 04/09/2009 (regulations specific to French Polynesia), and are therefore prohibited from importing into French Polynesia. Please also note that certain breeds of “snub nose” dog may be refused carriage in the hold by airlines, and it is strongly advised to see the conditions of the latter before any importation.

3 LES 2 TRAITEMENTS ANTIPARASITAIRES INTERNES (VERMIFUGE) ET EXTERNES (ANTI-PUCES ET ANTI-TIQUES) DOIVENT ÊTRE ADMINISTRÉS PAR LE VÉTÉRINAIRE DANS LE MOIS PRÉCÉDANT LE DÉPART (1er dans les 30 jours et 2ème dans les 4 jours avant le départ, avec minimum 14 jours entre chaque) DOIVENT ÊTRE EFFECTUÉS CONFORMÉMENT AUX EXIGENCES RÉGLEMENTAIRES

THE 2 INTERNAL (VERMIFUGE) AND EXTERNAL (ANTI-FLEA AND ANTI-TICKS) PEST TREATMENTS MUST BE ADMINISTERED BY THE VETERINARIAN IN THE MONTH PRIOR TO DEPARTURE (1st within 30 days and 2nd within 4 days before departure, with a minimum of 14 days between each ), IN ACCORDANCE WITH REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

4 LE CERTIFICAT SANITAIRE APHIS FORM DOIT ÊTRE COMPLÉTÉ PAR LE VÉTÉRINAIRE ACCRÉDITÉ SELON LA NOTICE APHIS FORM ET CONTRE-SIGNÉ PAR LE VÉTÉRINAIRE OFFICIEL DE L’USDA. L’ANIMAL SERA SOUMIS A UN EXAMEN APPROFONDI AU DÉPART.

THE APHIS FORM HEALTH CERTIFICATE MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE VETERINARY ACCREDITED UNDER THE APHIS FORM PACKAGE LEAFLET AND COUNTERSIGNED BY THE OFFICIAL USDA VETERINARY. THE ANIMAL WILL BE SUBJECT TO A COMPLETE EXAMINATION ON DEPARTURE.

5 INSPECTION A L’ARRIVÉE PAR LE VÉTÉRINAIRE OFFICIEL DE LA DIRECTION DE LA BIOSÉCURITÉ A L’AÉROPORT DE TAHITI (SUR RENDEZ-VOUS)

INSPECTION ON ARRIVAL BY THE OFFICIAL VETERINARY OF THE BIOSECURITY DIRECTORATE AT TAHITI AIRPORT (BY APPOINTMENT)

Nous vous invitons à lire en détail le protocole d’import des chiens et le protocole d’import des chats où se trouvent l’intégralité des informations utiles pour l’importation de votre animal.

Pour les CHIENS DE GRANDE TAILLE destinés à une autre île que TAHITI, il est nécessaire de se renseigner au préalable auprès de la compagnie aérienne réalisant les liaisons inter-îles car la soute des avions ne permet pas de charger des cages de grand gabarit.

Les chiens ou chats accompagnant leur propriétaire à bord des bateaux de plaisance (voiliers, yacht, bateau de croisière) doivent présenter en tout point les mêmes conditions sanitaires prévues dans l’arrêté n° 738 CM du 15 mai 2013 modifié,  comme pour toute importation d’un chien ou d’un chat en Polynésie française.

Il est obligatoire de déclarer les animaux à bord du navire au plus tard au moment de l’entrée dans les eaux de Polynésie française, via le formulaire de déclaration n°211A qui doit être retourné complété et signé par e-mail à : animal.impex@biosecurite.gov.pf

Attention, certaines races de chiens sont considérées comme appartenant à la catégorie 1 selon l’arrêté du 27 avril 1999 sur les chiens susceptibles d’être dangereux, et sont par conséquent interdites d’importation en Polynésie française.

Une inspection par le vétérinaire officiel de la Direction de la Biosécurité sera organisée au plus vite à bord du bateau au mouillage ou dans un port de l’Île de Tahiti.

Cette visite conduira à la délivrance :

– d’une mise en consigne de l’animal à bord;

ou

– d’un laissez-passer l’autorisant l’animal à débarquer.

Si l’usager se trouve empêché de se rendre sur l’île de Tahiti dès son arrivée,  merci de contacter la Direction de la Biosécurité au téléphone : (+689) 40.540.100 ou par e-mail: animal.impex@biosecurite.gov.pf dans les plus brefs délais.

SANS LAISSEZ-PASSER DÉLIVRÉ PAR LA DIRECTION DE LA BIOSÉCURITÉ , L’ANIMAL EST OBLIGATOIREMENT MAINTENU A BORD DU BATEAU

IL NE PEUT DÉBARQUER SOUS AUCUN PRÉTEXTE, Y COMPRIS POUR RAISON MÉDICALE.

LES CHIENS D’ASSISTANCE SONT SOUMIS AUX MÊMES CONDITIONS SANITAIRES D’ENTRÉE EN POLYNÉSIE FRANÇAISE

Tout contrevenant constaté en infraction, s’expose à une amende de 450 000 F CFP en application de l’article LP 58 de la loi du pays n° 2013-12 du 6 mai 2013.

Dogs or cats accompanying their owner aboard pleasure boats (sailboats, yacht, cruise ship) must present in all respects the same sanitary conditions provided for in order n ° 738 CM of May 15, 2013 as amended, as for any import. of a dog or a cat in French Polynesia.

It is compulsory to declare the animals on board the vessel at the latest when entering French Polynesian waters, using the declaration form n ° 211A which must be returned completed and signed by e-mail to: animal.impex@biosecurite.gov.pf

Please note, certain dog breeds are considered to belong to category 1 according to Decree No. 1927 HC of 12/22/2009 (regulations specific to French Polynesia), and are therefore prohibited from importing into French Polynesia.

An inspection by the official veterinarian of the Biosecurity Department will be organized as soon as possible on board the boat at anchor or in a port on the Island of Tahiti.

This visit will lead to the issuance of:

– a deposit of the animal on board;

or

– a pass authorizing the animal to disembark.

If the user is prevented from going to the island of Tahiti upon arrival, please contact the Biosecurity Department by phone: (+689) 40.540.100 or by e-mail: animal.impex@biosecurite.gov.pf as soon as possible.

WITHOUT PASS ISSUED BY THE BIOSECURITY DEPARTMENT, THE ANIMAL IS MANDATORY KEPT ON BOARD

IT CANNOT DISEMBARK UNDER ANY PRETEXT, INCLUDING FOR MEDICAL REASON.

SERVICE AND ASSISTANCE DOGS MUST RESPECT THE SAME REQUIREMENTS THAN OTHER DOGS TO ENTER IN FRENCH POLYNESIA TO BE ALLOWED TO DISEMBARK.

Any offender found to be in violation is liable to a fine of 450,000 F CFP in application of article LP 58 of the country’s law n ° 2013-12 of May 6, 2013.

Les animaux sont soumis aux mêmes conditions sanitaires que pour une arrivée par un vol commercial classique (voir rubrique ci-dessus).Pour de plus amples informations, merci de consulter le protocole d’importation.

Animals are subject to the same health conditions as for arrival by commercial flight (see section above). For more information, please read the import protocol.

Tous les animaux ont pour obligation de voyager par fret manifesté à l’arrivée en Polynésie française (loi du pays 2013-12) et sont donc interdits en cabine.

Pour rappel, selon l’arrêté n° 738 CM du 15 mai 2013 portant fixation des conditions zoosanitaires applicables lors de l’introduction et de l’importation des chiens et des chats, on entend par animaux d’assistance aux personnes handicapées des chiens d’assistance aux personnes handicapées.

Le terme chien d’assistance certifié ne comprend pas les chiens d’assistance émotionnelle, les chiens de thérapie, les chiens de réconfort et les chiens d’assistance psychiatrique (ou des chiens de même description), qui ne sont pas assimilables aux chiens d’assistance “service dogs”  aux personnes handicapées certifiés définis ci-dessus.

Toute demande doit être accompagnée des documents suivants :

a) Un certificat médical ou tout autre document officiel attestant du handicap du propriétaire ;
b) Un certificat attestant de la qualité du chien d’assistance délivré par un établissement de dressage agrée par le(s) pays de provenance du chien.

Les chiens d’assistance aux personnes handicapées sont autorisés à transiter dans les salles des aéroports internationaux spécifiquement réservées à cet effet. Ils ne sont pas soumis à l’obligation d’être exclusivement transportés comme fret manifesté propre à tout animal introduit ou importé en Polynésie française.

Les chats ne sont pas concernés par le transport en cabine et doivent être exclusivement transportés comme fret manifesté

All animals are required to travel manifest freight upon arrival in French Polynesia (country law 2013-12) , so they are not allowed in the cabin of the aircraft.

The term certified assistance dog does not include emotional assistance dogs, therapy dogs, comfort dogs and psychiatric assistance dogs (or dogs of the same description), which are not equivalent to service dogs. assistance “service dogs” to certified disabled persons defined above.

All requests must be accompanied by the following documents:

– a) A medical certificate or any other official document attesting to the owner’s disability;

– b) A certificate attesting to the quality of the assistance dog issued by a training establishment approved by the country(ies) of origin of the dog.

Assistance dogs for people with disabilities are authorized to pass through rooms at international airports specifically reserved for this purpose. They are not subject to the obligation to be exclusively transported as manifested freight specific to any animal introduced or imported into French Polynesia. Cats are not eligible for carriage in the cabin and must only be transported as manifested cargo
